I got the internship!
I had the internship interview at the congressman’s office this morning- and I totally got it! Woo hoo! I’m ecstatic!
The only interesting problem I can perceive is that I consider myself to be a democrat, and the congressman is a republican. Which is fine. Actually, more then fine. It’s good for me to see the other side, and it is my opinion that politics aren’t black and white. While I am more liberal, I do have some conservative views.
So I start next Tuesday! I won’t say which congressman I will be interning for, but I’m sure if you really wanted to know you could figure it out with a quick google search.
I really hope my luck isn’t going to start running out; I don’t want to ruin my chances of getting into the study abroad program (only a few more days and my agony will end)!

Busy week
Well, sort of a busy week.
Most of it is clouded with my expectation to receive the study abroad letter. I’m thinking it might get here Friday, but I’m betting on Saturday.
On Wednesday I have a rherotical situation proposal due. I know what I’m going to do it on, but I, um, haven’t even started it yet. In fact, I haven’t even thought about it.
So tomorrow will include me scrambling to get that done.
Also tomorrow, I have an internship interview at my local congressman’s office. I was super surprised when they called me; I turned in the application with little expectation.
Then on Saturday I am going to be a judge for a high school speech competition. Should be fun, but Dr. H said that the students give such great speeches so that it is very, very hard to judge. And we all know how I can’t make a decision for the life of me.
That’s not really a busy week. At all. It’s more of an anticipatory week. The interview tomorrow. Freaking out about my proposal. Having anxiety attacks about study abroad letter. And looking forward to being a judge.
Minus the study abroad letter and I would be peachy. I wouldn’t even be writing about having a busy week if it weren’t for the letter.
But as I said, the darned letter is clouding my every move. Everything I do has an edge of anxiousness to it. I’m not good at being patient at all.

This time next week…
This time next week I may possibly know if I am accepted to the study abroad program or not.
Just thought you might find that interesting.
Also, did you hear about the 130-year-old woman?
I wouldn’t mind living to be 130, but only if I was healthy and still had my mind fully intact. Once my mind goes, or I’m so sickly that my future children and grandchildren have to take care of me 24/7, or I’m so sickly I’m sent to an old person’s home because I can’t take care of myself, at that point, I’d rather just die.
What about you?

Yuck, the heat is overbearing
We had highs in the 70s today, and it was disgusting. It was also extremely windy. So windy, that while driving on the freeway I was half paranoid that I was going to blow right into someone elses lane.
The current temperature is slightly warmer then perfect, it’s just that little hint of heat that destroys everything. And the hint of heat is nasty. Unless your swimming, or running through sprinklers. Or in air conditioning. Or sailing the Caribbean. Or basically anywhere but in the dry heat of the central valley.
Speaking of the central valley, we have some crazy drivers here. Mostly, I avoid the freeway, but as I stated before, I happened to be cruising on one earlier today. I has heading to the fathers house.
Anyway.
Everyone here claims that bay area drivers are crazy, but really, WE ARE JUST AS BAD! I was cut off three times on a short fifteen minute trip today. And I wasn’t even driving slow. Think 80mph in a 65mph zone.
The biggest difference between bay area drivers and central valley drivers is this: CV drivers don’t think. They have their heads in the clouds. They drive around in their beaten up pick-up trucks, with their fake cowboy hats on, while blaring 50 Cent. They’re all too busy trying to act like tough shit to pay attention to what is going on around them. And it’s scary. I’m probably the one of the only people in this town who drives around blaring Metallica.
At least in the bay area people have destinations. They want to get from Oakland to Berkley, and now. They drive around in their slick, shiny hybrids and, despite their horrible driving, are for the most part completely paying attention to the road.
I have only been behind the wheel in two other states, Oregon and Arizona. Oregon drivers are the complete opposite of California drivers; they are safe and slow. Arizona drivers are similar to California drivers, but they do not have some of the bad habits we have here. Let me give you an example.
Two summers ago I was in Arizona visiting family. My aunt graciously let me drive her car, so my cousin and I could gallivant around Tempe and Phoenix. The one thing I was made fun of for the most was the traditional “California roll.”
I had no idea that I did this before my trip to Arizona. Somehow I learned it from all of the people around me. I go up to a stop sign, stop almost all the way but before I do– I continue driving. Classic.
Amazing how you can have a bad driving habit and not realize it until you go to a different state.

Apparently, I need a life
So I’ve been tracking my scholarship application all the way to Sweden.
It just made it through customs today! How exciting. Thrilling, really, because I know it will make it there by the 31st now.
And all that stressing for nothing.
Anyway, I don’t have anything to say. Today was my long day at school. The only noteworthy thing that happened was in comm theory, when Dr. S talked about graduate school and how to get in. And also persuasive messages. The workload is a lot, but I’m learning so much. And the sights aren’t bad in that class, too. Is it gross to think a professor is good looking? To the point of daydreaming about him while he lectures?
